BWF Secretary: Not all players will be eligible to play all tournaments

The Badminton World Federation [BWF] has reviewed the decision to bring badminton recently back to action. As they say, “desperate times call for desperate actions,” and this is synonymous with the current situations on the ground as the spread of COVID’19 has halted action on courts and resulted in shutters staying indoors to observe the nationwide lockdown in India.

The great news, however, is that the Badminton body is making plans on getting back to action. But this decision of schedules does not cover the completion of tournaments as situations of things will depend on how the pandemic spread will be dealt with.

The BWF secretary Thomas Lund has said that following this situation the decision made is the best the body could make now to ease things getting gradually back to normal.

“It is unfortunate that the COVID-19 circumstances have sob far affected our calendar. But we are sure of our positioning to deal with this situation in the best way we can”.

This revamped calendar has provided us with the framework for the potential return of Badminton only when it is safe logistics wise”. He said

Sporting activities across the globe are gradually getting back, especially football, as there have been games played behind closed doors and the Badminton world body are also seeking the same measure as well. As the BWF has also been considering holding tournaments in one venue just to curb the spread of the virus.
