Anthony Davis joins Kobe Bryant in the elite list after Lakers defeat Utah Jazz

Los Angeles Lakers power forward Anthony Davis was on a roll against Utah Jazz in his team’s win of 116-108. The win also helped Lakers achieve the numero position in the Western Conference standings in a decade. The 27-year old Anthony Davis was in sublime form as he helped his team reach the top of the rankings.

Davis had a complete match as he scored 42 points along with 12 rebounds. As Davis was unstoppable, he achieved something which only Kobe Bryant had achieved in the last 10 years for the LA Lakers.

Davis scored 23 points in the first half of the match on Tuesday, making it the 20th time that he has scored more than 20 points in a half in the ongoing season. Consequently, he became the first LA player to achieve the feat after former legend Kobe Bryant achieved the landmark back in the 2012-13 season.

After the match, Davis heaped praise on the five-time champion and added that it means a lot when he is compared with the former legend. Davis added that it is an honor for him to be put in the same category as Bryant.

“I just got chills,” Davis told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “It’s tough always talking about him but to be in a category with [Kobe Bryant], it means a lot. I know he’s looking down on us and cheering us on, so we want to do it for him. It’s an honor to even be mentioned with his name.”

Davis was at his best and he was able to impress with his perimeter shooting. Rudy Gobert was guarding him but Davis was able to get the best out of himself.

Davis was able to prove his mettle and showed why he is regarded as one of best players in the NBA. Coach Frank Vogel would hope that Davis can keep up his good form going and he can help his team win the title for the first time since 2010 along with LeBron James.

The Lakers will play their next match against Oklahoma City on 6th August at 4:00 am IST.
