LA Lakers talisman Anthony Davis has put his weight behind LeBron James after he was ejected from the game with a flagrant 2 foul against Detroit Pistons. Davis added that everyone in the league knows that James is not a dirty guy and he didn’t make the foul on purpose and it was a pure accident.
The incident happened when 9:18 were left on the clock in the third quarter after LeBron James’ left hand got tangled up with a free throw attempt and left Detroit Isaiah Stewart’s bloodied in the face. Stewart then tried to take his revenge by having a go at Bron but Laker’s players came in between to defend their talisman.
As a result, Stewart was ejected because he was given two technical fouls, while Russell Westbrook also picked up one technical foul.
“On the free throw, boxing out, Stewart tried to get physical with LeBron. Bron did the same thing. Everyone in the league knows Bron’s not a dirty guy. As soon as he [LeBron] did it, he looked back at him, ‘Oh my bad. I didn’t try to do it.’ I don’t know what he [Stewart] was trying to do. I know nobody on our team, one to fifteen, was having it. We’re going to protect our brother.”
Davis went on to add: “I’ve never, ten years, seen a player do that since I’ve been playing. Obviously, we’ve seen it before, back in the day. But in recent basketball, it was uncalled for. You got a cut above the eye, accidental right. It wasn’t on purpose. We weren’t going to allow him to charge our brother like that. I don’t know what he was trying to do.”
This crazy couple of minutes gave a spark to LA Lakers as they went on to win against Detroit Pistons by 121-116. Davis scored 30 points for his team while Westbrook scored 26 points and both of them played a key role in the success of the team.
“We just wanted to get the win for him [LeBron], get the win for our team. Get back in the win column.”
The Lakers were able to bounce back stronger after losing their previous three matches. The LA Lakers will next face New York Knicks on Tuesday night.
