The Houston Rockets rely heavily on the shoulders of James Harden for their success. However, the Rockets didn’t have a great off-season and their talisman Russell Westbrook also left the team. Thus, it increases more responsibility on the shoulders of James Harden to deliver the goods for the team.
Meanwhile, Houston Rockets’ first match of the season against Oklahoma City was postponed due to Covid-19 protocols. However, James Harden has been the star of the show in the next two matches against Portland Trailblazers and Denver Nuggets. But unfortunately for Harden, his efforts have gone in vain as the team has lost both the matches.
The Rockets lost the humdinger contest against the Portland Trailblazers by 128-126 in overtime but Harden scored 44 points, 17 assists and four rebounds in that game. Harden scored six three pointers and had a field goal accuracy of 54.5%. The point guard played at the top of his game and there was no stopping him
The 31-year old was once again on a roll against the Denver Nuggets in the second match as he scored 34 points and provided eight assists.
Harden left LA Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal behind by scoring his 44th 40-point double-doubles. The closest active players to have this record are Laker’s legend LeBron James and Harden’s former teammate Russell Westbrook, who both have scored 30 double doubles in the league. (The record is considered from 1976-77)
Harden would look to continue his sublime form in the coming matches and also get the team to their first win of the season. The shooting guard will want a collective team effort and players like Christian Wood and Jae’sean Tate will need to provide support to Harden.
Houston Rockets will next lock horns against Sacramento Kings on 1st of January.
