The Houston Rockets have had a horrible run in the ongoing season of the NBA. The Rockets lost 20 matches on the bounce and endured one of the worst losing streaks in the league. The Rockets had to trade their talisman James Harden and Russell Westbrook and thus rejig their plans. But the franchise has found it difficult to fill in the big shoes.
However, the arrival of 20-year old Kevin Porter Jr is one of the positives for the team as he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career. The youngster had a night to remember as he was on a different level altogether against Milwaukee Bucks.
Porter scored a record-breaking 50 points along with 11 assists, to write his name in the history books. The 20-year old has now become the youngest player to achieve the double-double of 50 points and 10 assists. Porter broke the previous record which was held by LeBron James by a gap of two years.
Furthermore, Kevin Porter Jr. became the fourth player in NBA history to have a 50-point game before turning 21.
In fact, Houston were trailing by 17 points in the first half and Porter decided to take the mantle in his hands.
“After I saw the third 3 go down, I knew it was going to be a special night,” Porter said. “It was all up to me. I just stayed aggressive, and it was a good night.”
Rockets head coach Stephen Silas also heaped praise on the youngster.
“For him to be successful, he’s going to have to be someone who can make those shots,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said. “Just seeing the hard work that he puts in was great.”
Houston Rockets will next face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.
