The LA Lakers have certainly added depth to their squad and will be hoping to clinch their 18th NBA title. Lakers already had talisman-like LeBron James and Anthony in the previous season but they were not quite getting the support from their teammates. Thus, the Men in Yellow and Purple have added Russell Westbrook to their squad.
Furthermore, they have veteran players like Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony, who both can get the job done for the team. However, the team has suffered a few injury woes before the start of the season as players like Talen Horton-Tucker, Wayne Ellington and Kendrick Nunn are on the sidelines.
It will be interesting to note how the Lakers will line up for their opening match of the season against the Golden State Warriors. The team’s chief coach Frank Vogel provided an update regarding the same and added that they look set to play their best team.
Vogel said, “A lot of conversations both with the coaching staff, the front office and with our captains and see what everybody’s feeling about it.”
The veteran coach added, “Obviously, there are more than two really good situations for how we would go with our starting lineup. We feel good about all of them. You know it’s just where we’re gonna land on. We don’t wanna um be in a situation where we’re changing too often.”
The Lakers were knocked out of the first round in the playoff stage by Phoenix Suns in the last edition and they will look to make a winning start to their campaign in the upcoming season.
However, the Lakers would be concerned as they lost all their six preseason matches. They also lost against Golden State Warriors by 121-114, which they will face in their season opener on October 20. The Lakers will now look to turn the corner in the regular season.
