The pair of LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the heartbeat of the LA Lakers. The star duo have played at the top of their game and they have been unstoppable in the postseason. The Lakers were once again too good for the Houston Rockets as they won the fifth game of the series by 119-96, to win the series 4-1 and make their way into the Western conference finals.
LeBron James top scored for the Lakers as the star player scored 29 points in the match. In fact, the Lakers have made it to their first conference finals since the days of Kobe Bryant.
Meanwhile, it was once LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ show which saw the Lakers make their way into the finals. Both the star players have been in sublime form and they have carried the team on their shoulders.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the first pair of teammates to each average at least 25 points and 10 rebounds per game in a playoff series since 1961, when Bob Pettit and Cliff Hagan did it for the St. Louis Hawks in the 1961 NBA Finals.
Furthermore, James and Davis are also each averaging 25 PPG and 10 RPG in this postseason as a whole. They would join Pettit and Hagan (1959) as the only teammates to average at least 25 PPG and 10 RPG in a postseason in NBA history.
These are some incredible numbers as James and Davis have come up with their best when it has mattered the most for the LA Lakers. The Lakers also didn’t face any issues in going past the Portland Trail Blazers as they defeated them by 4-1 in the first conference round.
The LA Lakers will either face arch-rivals LA Clippers or the underdogs Denver Nuggets in the Western conference finals.
