Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is hopeful that Stephen Curry will be ready for the Saturday clash against Phoenix Suns after complaining of pain in both knees. Curry could not play against Oklahoma City Thunder, which the Dubs lost by 105-101.
Curry logged 29 minutes and had 28 points and seven assists in Monday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets but was ruled out of the match against Thunder.
“He’s been banged up the last week,” Kerr said before the Warriors played the Thunder. “His knees have been bothering him. This wasn’t a surprise. … Hopefully this gives Steph the time he needs in the next couple of days to get ready for our road trip.
“At 36, you’re just going to have more aches and pains. Fortunately the MRI he had yesterday was negative. He needs some time to clear the tendinitis that’s in his knees right now, and hopefully the next couple of days will do that.”
The Warriors are 12-6 in the ongoing season and they will hope that Curry stays at the top of his fitness for the upcoming matches. The Dubs are 3-0 without the services of Curry in the ongoing season.
The Warriors got off to a flying 10-2 start in the season but have managed only two wins in their next six games.
On the other hand, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points for Oklahoma City Thunder and played a key role in his team’s win. The Thunder outscored the Warriors by 39-23 in the opening quarter and from there on it was always going to be a herculean task for Kerr’s team to bounce back.
The Warriors will next take on the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
