LA Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has stated that this is the group they believe in after the team decided to not make any moves before the trade deadline. The Lakers have had a horrible run in the ongoing season as they are currently on a 26-30 record.
The Lakers have failed to come up with a collective effort in the ongoing season and a lot of NBA experts reckon that Lakers should have made some changes to their roster as they haven’t come up with consistent performances.
Lakers have managed to win only two matches in their last eight games. The Lakers lost their previous match against Portland Trail Blazers by 107-105.
“It’s a new day,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “I think our group had great energy today. Both in a team film session and in practice. I think there’s just a natural reset energy to our group, knowing that the trade deadline has passed. This is the group that we put together to start the year. This is a group we believe in.”
“I think with that deadline passing and having a refreshed mindset today, our group had a really good energy about going out and trying to win a game [Saturday] and understanding and believing in what we can do this year,” Vogel said.
In fact, there were trade talks between Lakers and Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook but the player stayed with the team despite the talk. Westbrook added that he is looking forward to the All-Star break and hopefully Lakers can come up with a collective effort in the rest of 26 regular season matches.
“I’m looking forward to getting into the [All-Star] break, getting ready to make a splash run and that we’re moving in the direction we need to as a team, collectively, and making sure that we try to put our best foot forward as a collective group,” he said.
Lakers will next take on Golden State Warriors on Saturday.
