Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson heaped praise on Delhi Capitals fast bowling pair of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje.
The bowling duo scalped five wickets among them against Sunrisers Hyderabad and bowled at the top of their game. Both Rabada and Nortje are known to trouble the opposition batsmen with their accuracy and pace.
Nortje returned with impressive figures of 2-12 in his four overs whereas Rabada scalped 3-37 in his quota of four overs. Both the fast bowlers from South Africa bowled the hard length and the SRH batters could not get going against them.
Nortje dismissed David Warner in the first over and the Orange Army could not recover after copping an early blow of their former skipper. SRH could only manage 134 runs on the board after Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first but it was never going to be enough to defend.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad’s disappointing season continued as they have registered a solitary win out of the eight matches they have played. Thus, it is going to be a difficult task for them to qualify for the playoff stages.
Kane Williamson said in the post-match presentation, “We didn’t start well, didn’t register a decent partnership but never got any momentum, some good scores in the back-end, but pretty much 25-30 runs short. We did bowl well, we have defended modest scores in the past, but it wasn’t to be today which was a bit of a shame”.
“It’s been a difficult campaign so far, but we need to enjoy our cricket and don’t put ourselves under pressure – they were excellent, they are both quality internationals, two of the best fast bowlers going around at the moment and they put us under pressure. They got us into hard positions, perhaps if we hadn’t lost early wickets, we could have done differently, but Delhi were outstanding and played some smart cricket. We need to concentrate on the way we play and try to improve”.
Sunrisers Hyderabad hasn’t been able to come up with a collective effort and they will need to win all their matches to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the playoff stages. SRH will next face Punjab Kings at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 25th September.
