It is clear that all is not well between former SRH skipper David Warner and the franchise. Warner was first removed as the captain and was also dropped from the playing XI in the first phase.
The southpaw got back into the team in the first two matches of the second leg but could not deliver the goods.
Subsequently, Warner was not only dropped in the match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday but also he was not present with the team at the ground and stayed back in the team’s hotel. Warner also replied to one of the fans that he might not be there at the stadium for SRH anymore.
However, SRH’s head coach Trevor Bayliss squashed all controversies and revealed that Warner stayed back in the team’s hotel as the management wanted to give young players an opportunity. Along with Warner, Shahbaz Nadeem and Kedar Jadhav also stayed back in the hotel.
The Orange Army made as many as four changes to their final XI against Rajasthan Royals.
“We’ve got a lot of young players here, and for this match we decided obviously we’re going to make a few changes in the team. But to give some of the young players who haven’t been a part of the 18 and we had to bring them to the game, give them the opportunity to come along and experience a game.
“We’ve got a number of guys who stayed behind in the hotel and haven’t even experienced being at the ground. So we want to give all those young guys as much of an experience as we possibly can. So for this game, it was David, Kedar and Nadeem with the three fit guys that weren’t here today,” Bayliss said at the post-match press conference.
Meanwhile, David Warner is one of the most successful overseas players in the IPL. Warner has always been instrumental in the success of Sunrisers Hyderabad and had also led the team to glory in the 2016 season. However, the partnership between him and the franchise seems to be coming apart and Warner is expected to be released by SRH before the mega auction.
