New Zealand veteran fast bowler Tim Southee has rated Jasprit Bumrah as the best fast bowler in the world. Bumrah has been lethal for India in all three formats and he has delivered the goods in all conditions.
Bumrah bagged 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17 in the eight matches of the T20I showpiece and thus played an instrumental role in taking India to glory.
Bumrah has been ticking the right boxes and he was magnificent for India throughout their World Cup campaign. The Indian pack leader is known to quickly read the conditions and bowls accordingly to get the best out of him.
Bumrah was out with a back injury for more than a year and Southee showered praise on the ace pacer for his successful return.
“To be able to firstly bounce back from the major injury and come back, he’s even better than what he was beforehand. Throw in on top of that, having to juggle multiple formats, can be difficult at times as well,” Southee was quoted by PTI as saying.
“He seems to have been able to do that with ease as well. He’s probably more experienced and understands his game a bit more. He probably had that time where he was injured to come back and be recharged, refreshed,” he added.
The New Zealand skipper tipped Bumrah as the best bowler across all three formats in the modern-day era.
“We are just seeing a great version (of Bumrah) across all three formats. He’s brilliant across all three at the moment. I don’t think there’s anyone that he’s better in (better than him), he is tremendous across all three (formats),” Southee said.
Bumrah will be in action in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
