Prasidh Krishna ran riot in the most recent outing against West Indies. His four-wicket-haul coupled with a disciplined and economic spell sealed the win for India in the second ODI, and with it, the series as well.
The lanky pacer from Karnataka has made a brilliant start to his ODI career with Team India. He has 15 wickets to his name in just six matches. Although Prasidh is yet to make his T20I debut, he first gained national recognition because of his performances in IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Prasidh’s spell left former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh very impressed and he backed his former KKR teammate to star for India in the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Harbhajan hailed his ability to generate extra bounce from pitches and it could prove to be handy on the tracks of Australia.
“He [Krishna] has shown his ability today. I feel going forward we will see him in Test cricket as well. We are seeing him in ODI cricket in any case, along with that, I want to see him at the T20 World Cup in Australia. Those are big grounds, there is extra bounce and pace in any case there and with his height and pace, I feel Team India will gain a lot there,” said the Turbanator in a discuss with Star Sports.
“When you come into the team, the first thing you need is to have something different from the others, which he has. He has more bounce and pace compared to the other bowlers and the quickness of the ball after pitching is more.”
Harbhajan has seen Prasidh Krishna operating from close range during the season he spent with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021. His quick high-arm action and strong run-up action helps him generate the pace and bounce which ends up troubling opposition batters.
“His [Prasidh Krishna’s] positive is his action. He has a smooth action and a very good run-up. Along with that, he has a supple body. He gets extra bounce compared to the other bowlers because of that supple body, that is his biggest weapon.”
