India’s rising star Arshdeep Singh is on cloud nine after he was named as a net bowler for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
Singh had played under Rahul Dravid’s tutelage in the Under-19 World Cup and he will once again look to pick up Dravid’s brain on the upcoming tour.
Singh added that Dravid gets the best out of the young players and guides them on the right track. The former Indian skipper is well known for his good work with the young guns and has helped the Indian team prepare a solid bench strength.
We have seen that the young players have come through the ranks and Dravid has done a magnificent job in helping the youngsters get the right exposure and grow in confidence.
“To get a call was surreal. I was not expecting it at all. And to work with Rahul sir again is kind of a cherry on the cake. I have very fond memories of working with Rahul Sir. It is a great opportunity for me to work with him again. He is someone who treats every player in the squad equally.
I will try to impress him and will definitely pick up his brain in the Sri Lanka tour,” Arshdeep told IndiaToday.In.
“I have very fond memories of the U-19 World Cup. It was Rahul sir, who picked me for the U-19 World Cup and has always appreciated my performance, whether it is for Punjab in the domestic circuit or the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL),” said Arshdeep.
On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh has impressed with his variations. The left-arm fast bowler can nail an accurate yorker and he also has a good slower one under his repertoire.
Singh scalped seven wickets in six matches of IPL 2021 for Punjab Kings as he bowled with an impressive economy rate of 8.18. Overall, the left-arm pacer from Punjab has snared 19 wickets in 17 IPL matches.
The upcoming Sri Lanka tour will be a great opportunity for Arshdeep Singh to learn and grow in confidence. The first ODI will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 13th July.
