India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has broken into the top 10 in the latest update of the ICC Test rankings before the four-match Test series against Australia.
Australia’s talisman batsman Steve Smith was able to retain his numero uno position whereas Indian skipper Virat Kohli stayed at number two.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson slipped to the third position after he missed the second Test match against West Indies at Basin Reserve, Wellington as he joined his family for the birth of his child. Furthermore, New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham also dropped one place as Ajinkya Rahane replaced him in the top 10 rankings.
On the other hand, Henry Nicholls, who scored a fine knock of 174 runs in the second match against West Indies made a jump of eight places to take the 13th place in the rankings. Jermaine Blackwood who top scored for the West Indies with 216 runs has made the cut into the top 35 of the rankings after he continued to impress with his batting skills.
New Zealand’s fast bowler Neil Wagner slipped by a position to the third place in the rankings table. Stuart Broad now takes the second place whereas Australia’s gun pacer Pat Cummins continues to occupy the number one rank.
West Indies’ captain Jason Holder had a torrid series against New Zealand as he went wicketless in both the Test matches and thus slipped out of the top 10 bowlers rankings. Holder is now at the 11th place in the rankings.
On the other side, India’s ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah gained a position to take the eighth place in the rankings whereas Ravichandran Ashwin has also broken into the top 10.
Stuart Broad broke into the top 10 rankings of all-rounders replacing Roston Chase. Chase now shares the 11th place with Kyle Jamieson whereas Tim Southee slipped by one position to the 13th place in the all-rounders list.
