IND vs AUS 2023: Every aspiring batter should watch Rohit Sharma to understand where to hit the ball, says Mohammad Kaif

Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has advised every aspiring batter to watch Rohit Sharma in order to understand where to hit the ball. Rohit has been the best batter in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.

The Indian skipper is the leading run-getter of the series with 183 runs in three innings at an average of 61. Rohit scored a fine knock of 120 runs in the first innings of the opening Test at Nagpur to help India post 400 runs on the board and take a healthy lead of 223 runs.

Rohit has shown the right technique on pitches which has provided assistance to the spinners.

“I think it will be Rohit Sharma, he’s in very good form, scoring lots of runs, his contribution in the second test was very important, and he made a statement in terms of his batting, of how to play cricket on a turning track,” said Kaif while talking to Star Sports when asked who is going to hold the key for India.

Kaif hailed Rohit for backing himself to clear the field if the ball is in his arc. Rohit hasn’t been afraid of taking the attack to the opposition’s spinners and he has batted with guile.

“Even though there was a fielder at long-on, Rohit Sharma attacked the ball and beat the fielder. So, even if there is a fielder at long-on, he backs his ability to beat the fielder and hits a six. Rohit Sharma has done this and every aspiring batter should watch his footage to understand where to hit a ball. So, I’m pretty confident that Rohit Sharma will perform in both the final test matches,” Kaif added.

The former Uttar Pradesh captain added it will be difficult for Australia to stage a comeback in the series as India have a lot of match-winners in their team.

“We spoke about Ashwin, Jadeja is another player who can change the game for us. And we haven’t even come to Axar Patel and Siraj’s bowling. Siraj didn’t even bowl in the second innings. So we have many match winners like that. So, in my opinion, it will be very hard for Australia to make a comeback from here,” said Kaif.

The third Test match will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore from Wednesday.
