India’s gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will miss the fourth Test match against England due to personal reasons. The Indian board has not added any replacement for Bumrah for the final match of the series. Bumrah had bowled only six overs in the previous Test match at Ahmedabad as the pitch was providing assistance for the spinners from the opening session.
On the other hand, Bumrah was rested from the second Test match at Chepauk as part of the workload management policy. The fast bowler had played his first home Test match at Chennai against England. Bumrah took a total of four wickets in 48 overs he bowled in the series.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, who had replaced Bumrah in the second Test match, can get his chance in the fourth game. Siraj had an impressive tour of Australia as he scalped 13 wickets in the three Test matches Down Under. The fast bowler from Hyderabad had snared a solitary wicket in the second Test against England.
India also has the option of playing experienced Umesh Yadav in the fourth Test match. Yadav had cleared his fitness test ahead of the third Test match but he wasn’t picked in the final XI. The fast bowler from Vidarbha has an impressive record in the home conditions as he has an average of 24.
India has taken a 2-1 lead in the ongoing four-match Test series after they won the third Test by 10 wickets. The Virat Kohli-led team needs to either draw or win the last Test match to qualify for the final of the ICC Test Championship.
The fourth Test match will be played at the same venue of Narendra Modi Stadium from March 4.
