IND vs ENG 2024: “A unique player has emerged for Team India” – Aakash Chopra lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal

Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra has hailed Yashasvi Jaiswal for his fine performance in the second Test match against England at Vizag, which the hosts won by 106 runs on Monday. Jaiswal scored a magnificent knock of 209 runs in the first innings to power the home team to 396 runs.

Jaiswal, 22, became the third youngest Indian batter to score a Test double century after Sunil Gavaskar and Vinod Kambli. The left-hander had also scored 80 runs in the first innings of the opening Test match at Hyderabad and he was able to continue the good show at Vizag.

The southpaw played with an aggressive approach in the first innings and took the attack against the England bowlers. The left-hander scored 19 fours and seven sixes in his blistering knock.

Aakash Chopra named Shubman Gill, Zak Crawley, James Anderson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal as the best performers of the second Test.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “I have two or three very good names. You can talk about Gill, who has been absolutely good. You can talk about Zak Crawley. He looked very good. You can talk about James Anderson. He did his job very well as a bowler on such a pitch in both innings.”

“Yashasvi also looked great. Yashasvi Jaiswal played so well. A unique player has emerged for Team India and he has proved himself in tough situations in almost every format. Finding a player like that shows a bright future for Team India,” the former India opener added.

The renowned commentator predicted that Jaiswal would become a big cricketer one day as he has all the skills.

“He has it written in his hand that he will surely become a big cricketer one day. It’s been heard that an astrologer had told him in his childhood that he would become a very big sportsperson.”

Chopra also showered praise on Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav for doing a decent job for India.

“So these are three or four names who are in my fantastic category – Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Jimmy Anderson, and Zak Crawley. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin can also be honorable mentions in this. Of course, Ashwin in the second innings and Kuldeep in the first innings,” Chopra elaborated.

The third Test match between India and England will be played at Rajkot from 15th February onwards.
