England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson admitted that India was just too good for them after suffering a 4-1 series loss. The visitors lost the fifth Test match at Dharamsala by an innings and 64 runs as they could not show any fight.
England won the opening Test match at Hyderabad by 28 runs but the hosts bounced back in style to win the remaining four Test matches. India won the third Test match by a gargantuan margin of 434 runs, registering their biggest Test victory.
Anderson admitted they gave their everything throughout the series but India was more dominant in the end.
“A tough end to the series. India was just too good this time. We gave it everything the last couple of months. Love being part of this test team and we’ll keep striving to improve and entertain. Thanks for all the support from back home and especially those who traveled. See you in the summer,” Anderson posted on Instagram.
Meanwhile, James Anderson became the first fast bowler to take 700 Test wickets when he accounted for Kuldeep Yadav in the Dharamsala Test. Anderson picked 10 wickets in four Test matches of the series at an average of 33.50.
On the other hand, legendary Sachin Tendulkar showered praise on Anderson after he climbed the mountain of 700 Test wickets.
Sachin wrote on X, “The first time I saw Anderson play was in Australia in 2002, and his control over the ball looked special. Nasser Hussain spoke very highly of him back then and today, I am sure, he would say, “Maine bola tha” — that he had called it so early. 700 test wickets is a stellar achievement. A fast bowler playing for 22 years and performing so consistently to be able to take 700 wickets would have sounded like fiction until Anderson actually made it happen. Simply magnificent!”.
