India’s captain Rohit Sharma was all impressed by Prasidh Krishna’s match-winning spell against West Indies in the second ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Rohit stated that it was one of the best spells which he saw in India in a long time.
Subsequently, Krishna stated it was flattering for him to receive such high praise from Rohit Sharma, as the Indian captain has all the experience under his belt.
Krishna bowled with great accuracy and he was able to get extra bounce from the surface because of his height and high-arm action. Furthermore, Krishna has also impressed with his pace. Krishna returned with fine figures of 4-12 in nine overs he bowled and troubled the opposition batters with his extra bounce.
Krishna dismissed Brandon King, Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, and Kemar Roach in his match-winning spell.
“I have been striving to get more consistency. I remember, when I started off, I was excited and I had too many emotions running through. And then over a period of time that we’ve practiced together as a team, we’ve had our plans and we’ve been very clear on what we wanted to work on. Glad it paid off today,” Prasidh Krishna said at the post-match press conference.
“That was something very flattering for me. Because he’s been playing cricket for a lot of time, he’s seen a lot of it, and coming from him, I am really happy,” Krishna said.
Meanwhile, Krishna is not worried about his chances when the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami will return to the squad.
“Break disrupting the rhythm, I don’t see anything like that. Because as a cricketer, you will be playing as and when you get a chance. And when you’re not playing, might as well go back to the drawing board, get better at what you can and come back and play whenever you get a chance,” he said
The third and final ODI will be played at the same venue of Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday.
