Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has picked his overseas XI of the IPL 2021 thus far. Chopra picked Chennai Super Kings’ Faf du Plessis and Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler as the two openers of his team. Faf was the highest run-getter of the tournament as a foreign player as he amassed 320 runs in seven matches whereas Jos Buttler scored 254 runs in seven games, including a blistering knock of 124 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
CSK’s Moeen Ali bats at number three for Aakash Chopra. Ali scored 206 runs in six matches at an impressive strike rate of 157.25 and also scalped six wickets at an economy of 6.06. Glenn Maxwell bats at number four for the renowned commentator.
Maxwell did a fine job for RCB while batting at number four and the Australian scored 223 runs in six innings for the Virat Kohli-led team. AB de Villiers bats at number five for Aakash Chopra as the talisman was once again at his best as he scored 207 runs in six innings.
Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Kieron Pollard takes the sixth place in the batting order. Pollard played one of the best knocks of the truncated season as he smashed 87 off just 34 balls against CSK. Andre Russell bats at number seven for the broadcaster as the hard hitter scored 163 runs in seven matches.
Chris Morris and Sam Curran are the other all-rounders in the team. Morris scalped 14 wickets in seven matches whereas Curran took nine wickets in seven matches. Rashid Khan and Trent Boult complete the playing XI for Aakash Chopra.
Rashid was once again at his best as he scalped 10 wickets in seven matches and bowled with an economy of 6.14 whereas Trent Boult snared eight wickets in seven matches for MI.
