IPL 2021: I am tired of coming second in Super Overs – Kane Williamson

Sunrisers Hyderabad talisman batsman Kane Williamson stated that he is tired of coming second in Super Overs after the Orange Army lost the game against Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday.

Williamson scored an unbeaten knock of 66 runs from 51 balls to help his team level the scores.

In fact, SRH were struggling at 117-6 but Williamson kept SRH in the contest. However, the Orange Army could only score seven runs in the Super Over as David Warner and Williamson opened the batting against Axar Patel, who bowled accurately. Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant were able to chase down eight runs against SRH’s talisman Rashid Khan.

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson referred to the 2019 World Cup final, which New Zealand lost in the Super Over against England. In fact, Kane Williamson has been on the losing side in a lot of matches in the Super Over after the World Cup final.

“I am getting tired of coming second in the Super Overs,” Williamson said at the post-match press conference.

“Throughout the game, whenever there is a Super Over, as a batting side chasing a score that was very competitive, there are a lot of positives to take out of it. “It is really uncanny in game of cricket that things can end in a tie but I suppose it is very, very exciting. A lot of positives, we move on really quickly to Delhi,” he added.

It’s a game of margins and Williamson believes the team should try to improve in every aspect of the game to get a positive result under their belt.

“It is a game of very small margins and I think, if we are being honest, we just want to do different aspects of our game a bit better. This game, if you are able to do it, then the result can change quite quickly. “I suppose when it ends in a tie, you can look at the one run throughout the whole innings. I think on the whole, a lot of positives.”

Williamson has definitely added solidarity to SRH’s batting order but he didn’t get any support from other end after the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow. SRH will need to turn the tables as they have lost four matches out of the five they have played.

SRH will next play CSK at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on 28th April.
