Royal Challengers Bangalore talisman batsman AB de Villiers has stated that he loves playing for the franchise and he is enjoying his cricket after scoring a blistering unbeaten knock of 76 runs off just 34 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes. AB joined RCB back in 2011 and since then he has been a key member of the team.
Meanwhile, AB was at his best against Kolkata Knight Riders as he was able to hit the ground running. The right-hander came to the crease when nine overs were remaining and he was able to get going. There are always high expectations from AB de Villiers and he has mostly delivered the goods for the team.
AB had also scored a fine knock of 48 runs off just 27 balls in the first match of the season against defending champions Mumbai Indians, which had helped his team get over the line by two wickets. AB is one of the best foreign players in the IPL and it is almost impossible to put the breaks on him if he ges going.
The Proteas stars feels Glenn Maxwell laid down the perfect platform for him after RCB lost two early wickets of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. Maxwell scored a fine knock of 78 runs off 49 balls to continue his top form.
AB de Villiers was awarded the Player of the Match for his sublime innings and admitted that he sometimes surprises himself with his strokplay.
The 37-year old said in the post-match presentation, “I had a lot of fun out there. It helped with Maxi playing well up front and it made it really easy and gave the guys confidence that it’s not unplayable. It’s difficult when you come into games like these where the wicket tends to be a bit slow, you gotta break the shackles individually which some of our players did tonight. It was definitely a better wicket, probably not a 200 wicket. I surprise myself sometimes and you just gotta go out there and give out your best, the most important thing is I enjoy myself and I love playing cricket and I love playing for this team, they are my family over the years and a lot of reasons for me to be happy to really enjoy my cricket. You take it one game at a time and you’re only as good as your last game”.
RCB will now move to Mumbai, where they will face Rajasthan Royals on 22nd April.
