Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Rajat Patidar has revealed that the franchise has been his favourite team because of talisman players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
RCB skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have carried the team on their shoulders over the years and have always been instrumental in the success of the team.
However, both of them haven’t received the support from the other end and it has led to the downfall of the team. Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar was given the responsibility to bat at number three but he wasn’t able to grab the same.
The right-hander struggled to get going in the team’s last match against Punjab Kings. Rajat trudged to 31 runs off 30 balls as he couldn’t time the ball to perfection. However, Virat Kohli had put his weight behind the youngster despite his disappointing knock against PBKS.
Rajat said in a video on RCB Twitter “RCB has always been my favourite team because of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. Luckily, I got a chance to play with them. I was nervous before meeting them, but I liked it a lot after coming here.”
“We talked about the match situation and how we can play while being calculative. We know if we do that right, we can overcome the pressure situation. That is what we were talking about.”
On the other hand, Patidar added that Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid are his heroes and he has different idols in different formats.
“At that time, there was just one name – Sachin Tendulkar. It all started because of him. And then slowly, when I started playing, I started following others like Rahul Dravid, and, from the current lot, I like Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli a lot. I have different idols in different formats.”
Meanwhile, RCB’s match against KKR was postponed on Monday after Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy were tested positive. The IPL 2021 has now been suspended indefinitely by the BCCI.
