IPL 2021: We hope to continue from where we left off last season – Rohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is hopeful that his team will be able to continue from where they had left off in the previous season of the IPL.

MI had bagged their fifth IPL title in the last edition as they had defeated Delhi Capitals in the final of the tournament.

The Rohit Sharma-led team was the most successful team in the league stage of the previous season as they had won nine out of their 14 matches. MI was once again the most dominant side of the tournament as they ticked the right boxes in the tournament.

MI is always a force to reckon with in the IPL and they are known to come up with collective performances in the tourney. The five-time champions have a balanced squad and every player knows his role in the competition.

“The feeling in the camp is absolutely electric and upbeat. It is the start of a new season and we all know that. The guys are very excited to get going and we have got some new faces in the squad as well, which is exciting.

“The IPL is always an exciting time. And coming off from playing a lot of cricket as well, so yes looking forward to get going. I think it is going to be a good one this year as well. Hopefully, we can do the right things, we can continue from where we left in Dubai,” Rohit said in a video posted by the Mumbai Indians on Twitter.

On the other hand, MI fast bowler Trent Boult had played a huge role in the success of the franchise in the previous season as he had bagged 25 wickets in 15 matches. Boult will now be accompanied by his New Zealand teammates – James Neesham and Adam Milne in the IPL. Rohit expects the same performance from Trent Boult.

“I am pretty sure they are all excited to get out on the park. They have been in quarantine for 7 days and I know how it feels when you come out the first day, it is nice to just get to breathe fresh air. To get to be in the park and do what you love to do.

“I am sure those three guys are feeling the same. It is good to have Jimmy Neesham for the first time in MI squad. Adam Milne has been part of MI before as well, it is good to have him in the squad too.

“And of course, Trent (Boult), who played a big part for us in the last season. We expect nothing less from him this year as well,” Rohit added.

Mumbai Indians will aim to continue their domination in the IPL and they will aim to come up with another complete season in IPL 2021. Mumbai will begin its IPL 2021 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai on April 9.
