Kolkata Knight Riders will take on table-toppers Gujarat Titans in the 35th match of the Indian Premier League at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Saturday. KKR had lost their previous match against Rajasthan Royals by seven runs whereas Gujarat Titans had won the thriller contest against Chennai Super Kings by three wickets.
KKR has been hot and cold in the ongoing season as they have won three out of their seven matches whereas Gujarat Titans sit at the top of the points table with five wins from their six games.
Hardik Pandya had missed the previous match due to an injury and he is expected to return to the playing XI against Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, David Miller had played a blinder of an innings against CSK as he had pulled his team from the jaws of defeat. Furthermore, Rashid Khan had played a crucial cameo, in the end, to get his team over the line.
On the other hand, KKR would be a tad disappointed as they couldn’t chase down 218 runs despite being ahead in the run-chase for the major part of the innings against RR. KKR would want to come up with a more collective effort with the ball as none of the bowlers apart from Sunil Narine have been economical in the last few matches.
Furthermore, Aaron Finch had got among the runs in the previous match, which is a positive for the two-time champions.
Match Prediction: Gujarat Titans will enter the contest as favorites against Kolkata Knight Riders given their current form.
Kolkata Knight Riders Probable Playing XI: Aaron Finch, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi, Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy.
Gujarat Titans: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal.
