Punjab Kings fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was delighted to get his maiden call-up in India’s T20I squad for the five-match series against South Africa. Singh has impressed with his death bowling and he was right on the money in the far end of innings for Punjab Kings in Tata IPL 2022.
The left-arm fast bowler scalped 10 wickets in 14 matches for the Mohali-based franchise in IPL 2022. Furthermore, he bowled with an impressive economy rate of 7.70. Singh was brilliant with his yorkers and breathed down the neck of the opposition batters with his deadly accuracy.
Moreover, he made good use of the around-the-wicket angle while coming into bowl from behind the umpire to right-handers.
Singh revealed he got to know about his national selection just before the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
Arshdeep Singh told Harpreet Brar in a post-match interaction: “Really happy to be selected by the Indian team. Just got to know before the match, it was a very exciting feeling. Did not feel it that much because of the match, but it will slowly hit me by morning. Everyone wishes to represent their country. I feel lucky and grateful and hope to do well jn the future as well.”
On the other hand, Singh gave credit for his accurate yorkers to the team management, which has backed him to the hilt in the tournament. The 23-year-old from Guna bowled a total of 41 yorkers in Tata IPL 2022 as he was brilliant with his control.
“Credit behind the yorkers goes to PBKS management. They bought in such batters that the only way to survive in the nets against them is by bowling yorkers. So, my yorkers improved that way.”
Singh will look to continue the good show against South Africa. The first T20I between India and the Proteas will be played on 9th June at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
