Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has showered praise on head coach Ricky Ponting for getting the best out of everyone in the squad.
Ponting is well known to motivate every player in the team and looks to guide them on the right path to success.
The former Australian skipper also has all the experience under his belt as a coach and he would once again look to play a crucial role in the team’s success. Pant, who is still a rookie in the leadership role, stated that Ponting is like a family member and everyone looks up to him during the practice sessions of the team.
Ponting has done an amazing job for the franchise as Delhi Capitals qualified for the final in IPL 2020. Furthermore, Delhi Capitals were able to make it to the playoff stages in the previous season after topping the points table. After IPL 2022 mega auction, Ponting reckons they have the squad to win their maiden IPL title.
“It’s always special whenever I meet him. It’s like meeting a family member. Whenever he comes to the field, he brings that energy out of everyone. Everyone looks up to him. Everyone expects that he is going to say something different. He is going to attract everybody. So everyone is looking positive after watching Ricky in action,” Pant told the Delhi Capitals after his first training session with the team.
Pant added that they are looking to create a good environment in the team so that every player can excel and give their best to the side.
“As a team, we are discussing the environment to create in the team. Actually, it feels like a new team. I was observing the guys wh had come in. Everybody seems to be in a good frame of mind, they are willing to care for each other and help others.
“We are having a really good practice session. Hopefully, we can take this to the match situation,” Pant added.
Rishabh Pant will look to get the best out of his players and take the team to glory in the upcoming season. Delhi Capitals will begin their season against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on 27th March.
