Mumbai Indians talisman batter Suryakumar Yadav is likely to miss the team’s opening match in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2022.
It is reported by Press Trust of India that Yadav hasn’t yet recovered from the finger injury, which he had suffered in the series against West Indies.
As a result, the right-hander was also ruled out of the series against Sri Lanka. Yadav was in fine form against the Windies as he scored 104 runs in three ODIs at an average of 52. Furthermore, the Mumbaikar also scored 107 runs in three T20Is at an average of 61.33 and a strike rate of 140.46. Thus, he was also awarded the Player of the series in the T20I series.
Mumbai Indians want to allow Suryakumar to take enough time to completely recover from the injury setback, and the franchise doesn’t want that he should aggravate his injury, the Press Trust of India reported on Tuesday
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians had retained Suryakumar Yadav, along with captain Rohit Sharma, gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and talismanic all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
Meanwhile, the five-time champions Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2022 campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on 27th March.
Earlier on Monday, skipper Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah joined the team’s hotel in Mumbai after India won the Test series against Sri Lanka by 2-0.
Mumbai had failed to qualify for the playoff stages in the previous season and they will look to come up with a better performance.
