Punjab Kings all-rounder Sam Curran has stated that he doesn’t want to put too much pressure on himself because of whopping price tag. Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history when he was roped in for a huge amount of INR 18.50 crores by the Mohali-based franchise.
Curran has so far taken one wicket in the two matches he has played at an average of 81 and an economy rate of 11.71. Furthermore, the left-hander has scored 27 runs in the two innings he has played in the season.
These are still early days of the tournament and Curran will look to be at his best for Punjab Kings. Curran has been given the role to bowl in the PowerPlay overs as well as the death by Shikhar Dhawan and Trevor Bayliss and he will look to grab his chances.
Speaking to Sky Sports, here’s what the 24-year-old had to say:”I guess they buy you for a reason and they’ve put a lot of faith in me. I don’t put too much pressure on myself and focus on bat and ball. Hopefully, I can show some good performances. The price tag is what it is.”
Curran will want to prove his mettle in the upcoming matches of the season. The Englishman added he is just trying to enjoy and take one game at a time.
“It’s early in the competition. We’ve started well, but it’s a long tournament, and hopefully, we can take it game by game. I had two great years at Chennai. Punjab hasn’t won it yet, but hopefully, I can change those fortunes. I am just trying to enjoy it and take it one game at a time.”
Punjab Kings have got off to a great start as they have won both of their opening two matches. The Shikhar Dhawan-led has batted aggressively and they will look to continue the good show in the forthcoming matches.
Punjab Kings will face struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
