Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan is hopeful that MS Dhoni will be available for the franchise in the next season of the IPL 2025. Dhoni was expected to call time on his IPL career but he hasn’t yet made any comments on his future.
Dhoni led CSK to IPL glory on five occasions but Ruturaj Gaikwad took over the captaincy reins for this season. However, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs after losing their last league stage match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 27 runs and falling behind in the NRR. CSK won seven matches and lost as many to finish at fifth place in the standings.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni scored 161 runs in 11 innings of IPL 2024 at an average of 53.67 and a blistering strike rate of 220.55 and thus played a key role in adding the finishing touches.
Kasi Viswanathan said while talking CSK social media team, “It’s a question which only MS can answer. See, the question for us is, we’ve always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him. And as all of you know, he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time. We are very, very hopeful that he will be available for CSK next year. That is the view and the expectations of fans and me. That’s the case.”
On the other hand, former Indian batter Robin Uthappa also backed MS Dhoni to return for IPL 2025.
Uthappa told JioCinema, “I don’t think we have seen the last of MS. He is not someone who takes these things lightly. He will come back roaring for sure.”
Dhoni will turn 43 in July but he is still fit as a fiddle. The veteran batter batted at his absolute best in IPL 2024 as he made a big impact despite facing fewer deliveries.
