Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu believes Tristan Stubbs can become as good as AB de Villiers. Stubbs has been in scintillating form in IPL 2024 as he has delivered the goods for Delhi Capitals. The South African scored a fine knock of 57 runs off just 25 balls against Lucknow Super Giants at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Tuesday.
Thus, he helped DC in posting a par score of 208 runs on the board after KL Rahul decided to bowl first. Stubbs has scored 378 runs in 13 innings at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 190.91 in the ongoing IPL 2024 as he has batted at the top of his game.
The 23-year-old youngster has shown the ability to play all around the ground like AB de Villiers.
“Tristan Stubbs is an all-round package. He has bowled a beautiful over and the way he has been striking the ball this season — he hits every length, right from the short ball to a fuller ball. He is also very good against slower ones. I feel he has tremendous talent. He is one of those South Africans in the mould of AB de Villiers. I think he has long way to get there. But, he looks really good to become as good as AB de Villiers,” Rayudu said while speaking on Star Sports.
DC bought Stubbs for a steal price of INR 50 lakhs in the IPL auction and there is no doubt that he will attract big bids if he isn’t retained by the franchise.
Stubbs has also impressed with his gun fielding in the outfield. The right-hander is also picked in South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, DC finished their league stage with seven wins and as many losses out of the 14 games they played.
