Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer heaped praise on Harpreet Brar after their 10-run win against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday. Defending 220, Brar returned with impressive figures of 3-22 in his quota of four overs.
The left-arm orthodox spinner accounted for Rajasthan Royals openers – Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Brar also dismissed Riyan Parag in his fine spell.
Shreyas Iyer said after the win while talking to the official broadcasters in the post-match presentation, “He has been consistent in the nets. He wants to do the best for himself, he was hungry for this opportunity and today I feel he stepped in and delivered at his best, congratulations to him and his mindset has been tremendous throughout.”
Iyer also hailed the approach and attitude of all the players after coming back to action following the break.
He added, “Absolutely brilliant approach and attitude coming in after the break, the boys were in high spirits and we also needed a rest, going forward in the tournament, it was the right time we came in together and showed the kind of mindset to win irrespective of the situation. Going forward we saw that the spinners were difficult to take charge over, we hardly got runs off their spinners and that’s one learning, apart from that we can change the game from any situation.”
Speaking further on his message to his players, Iyer talked about the positive approach of his players.
Iyer concluded, “I was just passing on the message to all the players to keep a positive body language, you tend to drop and feel the game has gone away from you, but I am proud of every player out there to show that sort of great and bold approach.”
Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs and they would look to carry the winning impetus. PBKS will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Saturday.
