Australian skipper Pat Cummins has lauded the Indian duo of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. Cummins said both the players are super consistent in all three forms of the game. While Kohli will miss the second Test match against England due to personal reasons, Jadeja has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Kohli has been India’s best batter along with Rohit Sharma in the last decade and has performed consistently. On the other hand, Jadeja has delivered with both bat and ball in all three forms of the game.
Virat Kohli finished the ODI World Cup as the highest run-getter with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.32. Ergo, he was awarded Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances. Kohli has scored a total of 80 centuries in his glorious career so far.
“Kohli and Jadeja are super consistent, you can’t keep them out of it, they find a way to drag their team out of trouble and win it, to be alongside those guys has been really special,” Pat Cummins said in an interview with ICC.
Meanwhile, Cummins had a fantastic 2023 and he was awarded the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. The Australian captain led the team to glory in the ICC Test Championship as well as the ODI World Cup. The fast bowler said it was a huge honor to bag the prestigious award.
“It is a huge honor, it is been a big year with lots of wonderful team success and to get this individual honor is huge. We are a team sport where you play for kind of team wins and you’re going after tournaments and trophies together. In terms of an individual accolade, it’s right up there,” the 30-year-old said.
India was beaten by England in the first Test match at Hyderabad by 28 whereas Australia was also stunned by West Indies by eight runs at the Gabba.
