Mayank Yadav, Nitish Reddy picked for Bangladesh T20Is

Gun fast bowler Mayank Yadav has been picked for the Bangladesh T20I series, earning his maiden call-up in the national team. Yadav had impressed with his express pace in IPL 2024 but an abdomen injury had cut short his season. The fast bowler from Delhi picked seven wickets in four matches for Lucknow Super Giants at an average of 12.14 and an economy rate of 6.99 and also picked two Player of the Match awards.

Furthermore, Nitish Reddy, who was earlier picked for the Zimbabwe tour but was later ruled out with an injury, has also made the cut into the team. The right-hander had also impressed for Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 303 runs and can also roll over his arm.

Varun Chakravarthy also makes a comeback into the team after an impressive season with the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. The mystery spinner scalped 21 wickets in 15 matches and ended as the second highest wicket-taker of the season.

Abhishek Sharma is also being picked in the squad, which will be led by Suryakumar Yadav. Sharma had scored a 46-ball century against Zimbabwe and had impressed while batting in the top order. Harshit Rana has been retained in the squad after he didn’t get his chances against Sri Lanka.

Interestingly, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel have left out Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj and Khaleel Ahmed.

The three-match series kicks off on October 6 in Gwalior. The next two games will be held in New Delhi and Hyderabad.
