Former New Zealand batter Ross Taylor came up with a hilarious response when he was asked how the Kiwis bowlers can keep the in-form Suryakumar Yadav at bay. Yadav has been in the form of his life and his 360-degree game makes it difficult for the bowlers to keep the screws on him.
Taylor feels the Blackcaps bowlers need to back themselves while bowling against Suryakumar Yadav. SKY has been batting out of this world and it is really difficult to set a specific field for him. As Yadav can play all around the ground, the bowlers and the fielding captain are forced to change the field on every other ball.
Ross Taylor said while talking to ESPN Cricinfo, “Bowl to the other guy as much as he can (on being asked how NZ bowlers can bowl to SKY). He is human and will make mistakes but when you have a 50-50 chance, you have to take it.”
“But the way he is batting at the moment. He was hitting sixes at the MCG and that would get 10-15 runs at the back. If he hits it like that at McLean Park that would be out of the ground.”
However, SKY plays a high-risk game as he is always looking for boundaries and thus he always presents an opportunity to the bowlers.
On the other hand, India’s bowling was right on the money in the second game as they skittled out the home team at 126 runs. Deepak Hooda took four wickets whereas Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj scalped two wickets apiece.
“I think the way India bowled, they probably overshadowed SKY’s batting even though he all sort of overshadowed them (entire Indian batting unit). I thought they were very clear in their plans and they executed very well,” Taylor said.
“Some of the young Indian bowlers have been there before but some of these players who haven’t been to Napier, it can be an intimidating place to turn up and know that if a batter misses a head or still probably go for a six,” he added.
Taylor feels Blair Tickner might play in place of either Lockie Ferguson or Adam Milne in the third game.
“Napier is a rugby ground, a multi-purpose ground, and small than the Bay Oval where they recently played. Probably a little bit harder wicket. The last two games played there the scores are 200 and probably been par so we expect the runs.
“I am looking at New Zealand to probably bring in Blair Tickner for whom Napier is the home ground. Probably would come in for Adam Milne or Lockie Ferguson,” said Taylor.
