Multan Sultans veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir stated that he doesn’t believe whether the pitch is supporting spin or not and he tries to bowl according to his plans and the field.
Tahir returned with an impressive figure of 2-8 in his quota of four overs against Islamabad United in the 29th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Sunday.
Thus, the experienced leg-spinner played a key role in restricting the opposition at 105-7 in their 20 overs after Asif Ali won the toss and decided to bat first. Tahir accounted for Islamabad United opener Nasir Nawaz and Zafar Gohar as he hardly gave away anything on his bowling. Consequently, he was awarded the Player of the match for his fine performance.
Along with Tahir, Asif Afridi also bowled a fine spell as he returned with impressive figures of 2-21 in his four overs.
Imran Tahir said in the post-match presentation, “I don’t believe if there is spin or not, I just bowl to my plans. Just really pleased with the way it came out and helped the team. Been a good competition. A few years back Dahani never had a chance to catch me. Good vibe going within the team”.
Meanwhile, Imran Tahir has been in sublime form in the ongoing season of the PSL. The Proteas spinner has scalped 16 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 15.44 and he has conceded his runs at an economy rate of 6.33. Ergo, he has played a key role in the success of Multan Sultans in the ongoing season of the tournament.
On the other hand, Multan Sultans were able to get over the line with six wickets in hand. The defending champions captain Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeaten knock of 51 runs off just 42 balls to continue his rich form. Furthermore, David Willey added the finishing touches as he scored 28 runs.
Multan Sultans will face either Lahore Qalandars or Peshawar Zalmi in the first qualifier. As Lahore Qalandars have a better NRR, they have a better chance of finishing at number two in the points table.
