India’s former head coach Rahul Dravid is likely to return to Rajasthan Royals as head coach for the Indian Premier League 2025. Dravid served as Rajasthan Royals’ mentor in IPL 2014 and 2015 and played a key role in unearthing current skipper Sanju Samson. The former Indian skipper also captained the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Meanwhile, Dravid recently Ied India to glory in the T20 World Cup after Rohit Sharma’s team defeated South Africa by seven runs in the summit clash.
“Talks are going on between RR and Dravid, and an announcement in this regard is round the corner,” a reliable source told TOI.
The report further added that Zubin Bharucha, RR’s Director of High Performance, is currently assisting Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) coaches.
“I’m assisting Sri Lanka Cricket coaches in how they are setting up practice -from the academy to the international players,” Bharucha was quoted as saying.
On the other hand, Dravid had recently said he doesn’t want to think too far ahead and he will move on from the T20 World Cup victory.
“I will be able to move on quickly from this win, next week I will be unemployed (laughs). I don’t want to think too far ahead, but yes, I hope, I will be able to move on. I think that’s what life is all about,” Dravid said after Team India’s T20 World Cup glory.
Meanwhile, under Dravid’s tutelage, India made it to the semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup, the final of the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle, and the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Dravid has all the coaching experience under his belt and he could take Rajasthan Royals to new heights.
Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara is the current chief coach of the franchise.
