How does Shafali Verma stack up as batter in Women’s T20 internationals?

 

Shafali Verma is a phenomenal talent. What she is doing at her age at the moment, other teenagers can only dream of doing that. She has already played 19 T20I matches for India Women at 16 years of age and has played in a T20 World Cup too. She has amassed 487 runs so far in these matches at an excellent average and strike-rate of 27.05 and 146.24. These runs include a best score of 73 as well. Here, we will take a look at how she stacks up as batter in this format as compared to other players.

 

Best rate of hitting fours

No other batter with 400 or more runs in Women’s T20Is has a better rate of hitting fours than Shafali Verma. The teenager hits a four every 5.74 deliveries. Only Karen Rolton and Alyssa Healy come close with Balls per fours (Bp4) of 5.85 and 5.86 respectively.

Best rate of hitting sixes

When it comes to hitting sixes, she is the best among these category of batters as well. Shafali hits a six every 15.86 deliveries. No batter other than Chloe Tryon comes close to matching Shafali’s Balls per Six (Bp6). Tryon has a Bp6 of 15.94.

Best Strike-rate

Shafali has the best strike-rate among batters who have scored at least 400 or more runs in this format as well. She has a strike-rate of 146.25 in Women’s T20Is. Australia’s Alyssa Healy is next with a strike-rate of 132.05. So, it is pretty clear how broad the daylight is between Shafali and other batters in terms of strike-rate.

Best Boundary Ball Percentage (BBP)

Shafali has the best boundary ball percentage in this category of batters as well. 23.72 percentage of Shafali’s runs come in boundaries. Only Healy and Ashleigh Gardner come close with BBP of 19.55 and 19.33 respectively.

Second best BASRA

The teenager has the second best figure in terms of batting average and Strike-rate accumulation ( BA + SRA= BASRA) as well. She has a BASRA of 173.30. Only Karen Rolton has a better BASRA of 176.40 than her.
