Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath reckons Chennai Super Kings can target Ravi Bishnoi in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini auction. Bishnoi was released by Lucknow Super Giants and CSK would look to shop for a spinner after Ravichandran Ashwin’s IPL retirement and Ravindra Jadeja’s trade to Rajasthan Royals.
Noor Ahmad and Shreyas Gopal are the two spinners in CSK squad and they would look to strengthen their spin battery. It is well known that the Chepauk wicket is known to assist the spinners and CSK would want to target Ravi Bishnoi.
Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad was the pick of the CSK bowlers in the previous season as he scalped 24 wickets in 14 games. On the other hand, Ravi Bishnoi snared nine wickets in 11 matches for LSG in IPL 2025.
Badrinath said on his YouTube Channel, “He’ll be a great option, one CSK will definitely target. They are without two specialist spinners, Jadeja and Ashwin. So they definitely need a spinner, and Ravi Bishnoi will be a four-over bowler. And wrist spinners have been successful in the Chepauk stadium. Noor Ahmad and Ravi Bishnoi will form a super combination. He’ll probably go for a high price, but CSK will benefit if they buy him.”
The former CSK batter said the five-time champions will also need to rope in the services of a specialist death bowler after releasing Matheesha Pathirana.
“CSK definitely needs a death bowler. Anrich Nortje is a tearaway fast bowler who can bowl with the new ball and in the end overs. Gerald Coetzee will be a good option, having also played for the Joburg Super Kings before. CSK also bid for him strongly in the last auction. Buying Matheesha Pathirana back for a lower price won’t be a bad option. But a death bowler is a must for CSK, for which they can go for one of these three options,” added Badrinath.
Badrinath said CSK can also target David Miller, who can add the finishing touches. The South African was not retained by Gujarat Titans.
“David Miller is an intimidating end-overs player and a left-hander. He has been playing well against spin also recently. Yes, he is seemingly nearing the end of his career. But such players have done very well with CSK. Take Shane Watson, Robin Uthappa, or Ajinkya Rahane. So David Miller will certainly fit well with CSK,” said Badrinath (via the aforementioned source).
The IPL 2026 auction is all set to take center stage on December 16, 2025, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
