India’s fast bowler Arshdeep Singh believes T20 gets easier after playing the red-ball format. While Singh is yet to make his Test debut, the left-arm seamer has scalped 62 wickets in 19 first-class matches at an average of 29.67 for Punjab.
Singh has been India’s top bowler in the T20I format, taking 86 wickets in 55 matches at an average of 18.26 and an economy rate of 8.28. Furthermore, the 25-year-old returned with impressive figures of 3-14 in the opening T20I against Bangladesh at Gwalior and thus bagged the Player of the Match.
Singh accounted for Litton Kumer Das, Mustafizur Rahman and Parvez Hossain Emon.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Arshdeep Singh said, “T20 gets easier after playing red ball. Red ball teaches you patience, here (in T20s) you don’t need patience, you have to think about what a batter can do. I enjoy that we can see how quickly you can adapt to the conditions, ground dimensions and format.”
Singh added he enjoys his present and doesn’t think too much about the future when asked about his Test call-up.
“My life mantra is to enjoy the present. I don’t bother much about the future too much. Let others take the tension. I want to do my best in all the formats wherever I get the chance,” said Arshdeep.
Singh has shown the skills to savour success in all three formats of the game and he will look to keep up the good show. The left-armer has also snared 76 wickets in 65 matches for Punjab Kings in the IPL.
The second match between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday.
