Australian fast bowler Kane Richardson has heaped praise on Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently in the form of his life. Richardson has tipped Suryakumar Yadav as one of the best T20 batters in the world at the moment.
Everything which Yadav is touching is turning to gold these days and he has been scoring runs consistently. The right-hander scored 50 runs off just 33 balls in the warm-up match against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane on Monday and helped his team post a total of 186 runs on the board.
On the other hand, Richardson took a total of four wickets, including the big wicket of Yadav. The Australian pacer feels it was the first time when Yadav mistimed the ball when he dismissed him caught-and-bowled.
“I think it was the first time he (Suryakumar Yadav) missed the middle of the bat against us. He’s one of the best batters in the world at the moment, so it was good taking him on,” said Richardson.
With the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood in Australia’s line-up, Richardson admitted that his chances of being in the starting XI are slim.
“I’m not expecting to start, but if anything happens with form or injury, I could be in, just happy to be out in the middle today,” said Richardson.
“The atmosphere is really nice, we’ll go out there and enjoy our stint in the middle, the sun is out and it’s a good batting pitch. Disappointed to play in front of an empty stadium, we usually have it filled for games against India,” he added.
Apart from dismissing Suryakumar Yadav, Richardson also accounted for Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Earlier, Australian captain, Aaron Finch had won the toss and decided to bowl first against India.
India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on Sunday whereas Australia will take on New Zealand on Saturday at the SCG.
