Afghanistan will lock horns against Australia in the 48th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on Saturday. While Australia registered a 28-run win against Bangladesh by DLS method, Afghanistan suffered a 47-run loss against India in their Super 8 clash.
Ergo, it will be a must-win game for Afghanistan to stay alive in the tournament. Afghanistan bowlers came up with an impressive performance in the first 10 overs against India but veered off the track in the final 10. Furthermore, Afghanistan’s batting was not up to the mark as they were skittled out for 134 runs in the run-chase of 182.
None of their batters could cross the 30-run mark and they will need to come up with an improved performance against Australia.
On the other hand, Australia’s bowling was right on the money as they restricted Bangladesh to 140. Pat Cummins bagged a hat-trick against the Tigers and the gun fast bowler will look to keep up the good show. Moreover, Adam Zampa continued his rich form as he returned with impressive figures of 2-24 in his quota of four overs.
David Warner also scored a crucial unbeaten knock of 53 runs to help his team register a convincing win.
