Afghanistan will lock horns against Bangladesh in the 52nd match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on Monday. It will be a must-win game for both of these teams to stay alive in the tournament.
If Afghanistan wins against the Tigers, and India beats Australia, the Rashid Khan-led team will make it to the semifinals. The Afghan team was able to stun Australia by 21 runs and that win must given them a shot in the arm.
On the other hand, Bangladesh have lost both of their matches in the Super 8 stage. Furthermore, they have a poor Net Run Rate of -2.489 and will need a big win to go through. Moreover, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team will want India to beat Australia.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan openers – Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran – added 118 for the opening alliance against Australia and once again they are going to hold the key.
Afghanistan also came up with an impressive bowling performance as Gulbadin Naib and Naveen-ul-Haq bagged four and three wickets respectively against the Aussies.
Bangladesh could only manage 146 runs against India and they certainly need to come up with a better batting show against the Asian rivals.
