T20 World Cup: Veda banks on destiny as India faces Australia again

Veda Krishnamurthy on Friday says India is destined to win the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

The final comes up against the hosts, Australia, on Sunday. The Senior India, who said this while speaking with the organizer’s website, stated that for India to triumph against the four-time champions, they need to calm their nerves.

India reached the final without playing after rain washed out their semi-final games against England. They had topped Group A with a hundred percent record. England, on the other hand, came second behind South Africa in Group B.

Australia would have lost its game against the Proteas Women, too, without playing if the rain had not stopped. Recall that they finished second in Group A behind India, who defeated them in the first game.

In the game, South Africa failed to progress to the final for the second time a row as the host won the game with five runs. So, they will be playing India again for the second time in the tournament.

With the opening game being top class, the final that is expecting a record appearance will live up to expectation from t the fans that are expecting top-class cricket.

Speaking further 27-year-old Veda said India would have a psychological advantage over the Aussies going into the game, having recorded a shocking 17 runs victory against them during the tournament opener.

Veda, who stated that she is a big believer in destiny, said things are meant to be this way for this purpose of her team.

It could be recalled that Veda was among the India squad that was on the losing side in the final against England in the 2017 edition.

With another final in front of the team, Veda said they had been rewarded for their effort despite not having things their way in their tune-up games to the tournament.

India surprised pundits by winning all their games with 16-year-old Shefali being a sensation. The batters have been good as well, helping their team restrict their respective opponents’ scores.

With the target of getting to the final achieved, 27-year-old Veda said the team now has to remain focused when they took on the host on Sunday.
