Virat Kohli has the best possible team in the history of Indian cricket – Anshuman Gaekwad

Former Indian coach and opener Anshuman Gaekwad reckons that Virat Kohli has the best possible team in the history of Indian cricket. Gaekwad stated that Virat Kohli has got a great pace battery, which is helping the team in reaping the rewards. In fact, many cricket boffins believe that the current Indian bowling unit is the best ever in Indian cricket history.

It is well said that the bowlers always play an instrumental role in the success of the team. Indian captain Virat Kohli has always paid special importance for the rise of the fast bowlers and the current crop is the best ever. The fast bowlers have worked hard on their fitness and a lot of credit goes to them for taking giant strides.

On the other hand, India has got a potent top three as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have scored a truckload of runs and they have been consistent. However, India’s middle order has been their Achilles Heel in the recent past but it is looking better as batsmen like KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have grabbed their opportunities.

Anshuman Gaekwad said while talking to Sportskeeda, “If you ask me, I believe that he (Virat Kohli) has the best possible team in Indian history. Bowling, batting, and balance of the team are the best. Up till now, we had no pace bowlers. We had Karsan, Roger, Kapil, but they didn’t win matches for you all the time. Today, they have a battery of pacers with options, and they are winning matches for you.

Gaekwad also added that every individual player is different from the other and the captain must understand that. Virat Kohli is known to give 120% on the field and often talks about playing with intent. However, Gaekwad believes Kohli should help the players who give their 90%, so that they give more than 100%.

There is no doubt that Virat Kohli has got a great team because he has the bowlers who can help him in winning overseas. The Indian team had also savoured their maiden series win on the Australian soil under Virat Kohli in 2018-19.
