Afghanistan’s and Sunrisers Hyderabad talisman spinner Rashid Khan has stated that Virat Kohli is so successful because he never deviates from his process. Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world and he has been consistent in all the three forms. The linchpin has delivered the goods in all the conditions and he has batted at the top of his game.
Kohli always follows his process and he hardly gives a chance to the bowlers even in the limited-overs format as he doesn’t hit the ball in the air. In fact, the Indian captain is the solitary batsman to have an average of more than 50 in all the three forms of the game, which goes to show his consistency.
Kohli hardly has any chink in his armour and it is a difficult job for the bowlers to dismiss him if he gets settled at the crease.
“If there is any other batsman, he will come under pressure if you bowl well to him. He will play a shot which is not his strength like a sweep, a slog sweep or any other different stroke,” Rashid said on the Youtube show ‘Cricast’.
“[But] Virat will follow his own process. He goes with his mind. He has his own style and he goes with that. He doesn’t do anything different. I think that is why he is very successful. He has a process.
Rashid added that Kohli will respect the good balls but he won’t show any mercy to the bad balls as he is relentless in his batting approach.
“He will respect good balls. He will punish loose balls. He has great self-belief. Some batsmen don’t have self-belief. That is why they struggle. He believes in his own strength,” Rashid added.
On the other hand, Rashid added that he dreams of playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni, who is known to get the best out of his players.
“I have a dream that I play under MS Dhoni. Because the experience playing with him, under him is very important. For a bowler, the role of wicketkeeper is very important and I don’t think there is anyone better than him to explain things.
