India’s veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has tipped Virat Kohli as the best and Rohit Sharma as the most dangerous batter in the world. While Kohli missed the first two Test matches against England citing personal reasons, Rohit hasn’t been able to deliver the goods with the bat.
However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were brilliant in the World Cup 2023. Rohit scored 597 runs in 11 matches of the World Cup 2023 at an average of 54.27 and a blistering strike rate of 125.95. The talisman scored three fifties and one century in the ODI showpiece.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli finished the tournament as the highest run-getter with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62 and a strike rate of 90.32. Ergo, he was awarded Player of the Tournament for his consistent performances.
The talismanic duo played a key role in getting India to the summit clash of the ODI showpiece.
“Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. Virat has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best and Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous batter in the world,” Shami told News18.
Meanwhile, Shami added that Indian bowlers have been sensational in the last decade and have taken giant steps at the top level to reap rewards.
“People talk about the performance of the bowlers during the World Cup, but, if you have to look at the overall picture, you have to go back to 2013 and 2014. That is where the journey started. If we look at the facts now, we only had three fast bowlers performing in the World Cup this time, which makes us believe that we have set the benchmark for future bowlers,” Shami added.
Shami also missed the first two Test matches against England as he is recuperating from an ankle injury and he is unlikely to be available for the remaining three matches.
The third Test match between India and England will be played at Rajkot from 15th February onwards.
