Wasim Jaffer picks India’s all-time ODI XI, selects MS Dhoni as captain

Former Indian domestic veteran Wasim Jaffer has picked India’s all-time ODI XI in which he selected MS Dhoni as the captain. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly open the innings for Jaffer as both of them are the most successful opening pair in the 50-overs version. Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in the ODI format with 18426 runs in 463 matches at an average of 44.83 and took 154 wickets.

Ganguly scored 11363 runs in 311 ODI matches at an average of 41.02 and snared 100 wickets. The Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma bats at number three as he has batted at the top of his game. The flamboyant batsman has scored 9115 runs in 224 ODI matches at an impressive average of 49.27.

The current Indian captain Virat Kohli bats at number four as he is the best ODI batsman of the present generation. Kohli has amassed 11867 runs in 248 matches at a staggering average of 59.33.

2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh bats at number five for Wasim Jaffer. The southpaw scored 8701 runs in 304 ODI matches at an average of 36.55 and he also scalped 111 wickets in his career.

India’s former skipper MS Dhoni bats at his usual position of number six. Dhoni will also handle the wicket-keeping duties and he scored 10773 runs in 350 matches at an outstanding average of 50.57.

India’s first World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev bats at number seven. Dev scored 3783 runs in 225 ODI matches and scalped 253 wickets in his illustrious career.

Wasim Jaffer is confused to pick one between Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan as his off-spinner in the side. Jadeja has taken 187 wickets in 165 matches and he has scored 2296 runs. On the other hand, Harbhajan Singh bagged 265 wickets in 234 matches.

Anil Kumble is the leg-spinner in Wasim Jaffer’s side. Kumble is India’s leading wicket-taker in the ODI version with 334 wickets in 269 matches at an average of 30.83.

Javagal Srinath and Jasprit Bumrah are the fast bowlers of the side. Srinath is the second highest wicket-getter for the Indian team with 315 scalps in 229 matches at an average of 28.08. Jasprit Bumrah is still young in his International career and he has scalped 104 wickets in 64 matches at 24.43.
