The second ODI between India and West Indies will be played at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday. India had drawn first blood after winning the opening game by five wickets but they had to sweat hard to chase down a sub-par target of 115 runs.
The pitch at Barbados had a lot of assistance for both seamers and spinners and batting was a difficult task. West Indies’ batters could not show any resistance as they were skittled out for 114 runs. Apart from Shai Hope, none of the batters could get going and they will be looking to pull up their socks in the second game if they are to come back in the series.
Meanwhile, the Indian spinners – Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav – took a total of seven wickets among them. Jadeja had figures of 3-37 as he continued his good show while Kuldeep Yadav once again showed he is a lethal weapon in these kinds of conditions, picking 4-6 as he didn’t allow the West Indies’ tail to wag.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan scored 52 runs to help his team get close to the target. However, India would have been disappointed with their batting show as they lost five wickets in the run-chase. Suryakumar Yadav had a golden opportunity but he once again could not convert his start (19 off 25) into a big score.
Ergo, both teams will be looking to come up with a better batting performance in the second game.
Match Prediction: There is no doubt that India will begin as red-hot favorites against a beleaguered West Indies.
